Statistic of Land Pollution in Malaysia

On 2019, The Department of Environment received 11,127 environmental pollution complaints on 14 states in Malaysia. Out of these, 9,753 were under the Environmental Quality Act 1974 and investigated by Department of Environment State Offices, while the remaining 1,374 cases were outside the jurisdiction of DOE and was referred to other relevant agencies.

Based on statistic Number of Complaints by state, 2019, Selangor recorded 3,286 (29.5%) complaints, the highest number received, followed by Johor 1,658 (14.9%) and Pulau Pinang 994 (8.9%). The lowest complaints received is Putrajaya recorded 11 (0.1%) and followed by Labuan 24 (0.2%).

Referring to the statistic of Number of Complain Cases by types, 2019, the most complaints received were related to air pollution 9,085 (81.7%), followed by water pollution 976 (8.8%), noise pollution 278 (2.5%), illegal dumping of scheduled or toxic wasted 189 (1.7%), oil spillage 84 ( 0.8%), land pollution 69 (0.6%) and other complaints (4.0%)

From the statistic above, we can conclude that land pollution was contribute 0.6% on environmental pollution in Malaysia and Selangor is the highest cases was recorded in 2019. Even though land pollution is the lowest cases in Malaysia, we need to curb this from getting worse.
